What Most Patients Don’t Realize About All-on-X Implants Until It’s Too Late

When dental implants are rushed or sold as a one-size-fits-all solution, the results can be painful, disappointing, and expensive to fix.

If you’ve visited other centers, you’ve probably noticed how different the approaches can be. Some focus on speed and sales, promising “teeth in a day” at the lowest price. What they don’t tell you is that shortcuts in planning or experience can lead to.

Straight Answers About Full Mouth & Implant Dentures

Every patient has questions. Here are honest answers from Dr. T to help you make informed decisions.

Am I a candidate for full mouth implants?

Most healthy adults with missing or failing teeth are good candidates for full mouth dental implants. The best way to know for sure is with a simple exam and 3D CBCT scan at our Berkeley office. During your consultation, Dr. T will assess your bone, gums, and bite, then create a personalized treatment plan—often with several surgical and prosthetic options tailored to your needs.

At Berkeley Hills Dentistry, Dr. Tapaltsyan customizes every full arch restoration based on each patient’s anatomy and esthetic needs. FP1 restorations are ideal for patients with minimal bone loss—they replicate natural teeth emerging directly from the gums for the most lifelike appearance. FP2 restorations are designed for moderate bone loss and use slightly elongated crowns to restore proper proportions and function. FP3 restorations are used when there is significant bone and gum tissue loss; they replace both the teeth and missing gum structure with a combination of prosthetic teeth and pink gum material, helping restore facial contours and lip support. Each design is chosen to provide the most natural, functional, and long-lasting result possible.

Most patients receive temporary teeth the same day as implant placement. Final restorations are placed after healing, usually within four to six months.

Dr. Tapaltsyan stands out among implant providers for his advanced training, scientific background, and patient-centered approach. He is one of the few dentists in the Bay Area with both a DDS and a PhD in Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine from UCSF, where he also teaches and leads the Evidence-Based Dentistry Program. His expertise in bone biology and tissue regeneration allows him to plan each case with long-term stability in mind, not just aesthetics. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all “All-on-4” model, Dr. Tapaltsyan customizes every treatment using digital planning, guided surgery, and advanced techniques such as FP1 restorations, zygomatic and pterygoid implants, and minimally invasive grafting. His fully digital Berkeley office integrates CBCT imaging, intraoral scanning, and 3D printing for precision at every step. Patients also value his transparency and calm, educational approach. Consultations are focused on understanding each person’s goals and designing a result that feels natural, healthy, and built to last.
